Earlier this month, third grade students had the opportunity to visit the quarry at Mount Apatite in Auburn. A geologist was on hand to discuss the intricacies of different stones and minerals such as tourmaline, mica, and feldspar. Students were also treated to a historical overview of the quarry and were able to explore the area on their own.
